Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration takes players on an interactive journey through 50 years of video games via interviews with designers, developers and industry leaders, documentary footage, product design documents, high-resolution original artwork, and a specially-curated list of more than 90 playable games.

At the heart of Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration are the Interactive Timelines, which combine historical trivia, digital artifacts, all-new video interviews, and playable games into one singular experience. When you encounter a game in the Timeline, you can immediately play it without losing your place.

The massive list of games spans six original Atari console and home computer platforms and generations of arcade titles, the most ever included in a collection by the team at Digital Eclipse. For the first time ever, games from the cult favorite Atari Jaguar and Atari Lynx platforms will be playable on modern consoles. Behind every game are the stories of Atari, what was happening at the company, what went into the creation of the games and the hardware on which they ran, all told by the people who were there. It is a rare opportunity to get a rich behind-the-scenes look at the history of video games.

In addition to presenting these Atari classics exactly as they were, the talented team at Digital Eclipse has also created the Reimagined series—six new games that revisit, mash-up and reimagine Atari Classics. Each of these new games is included in Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration.

Polymega Collection Vol. 12: Tempest

Few early classic arcade games have withstood the test of time as well as the iconic TEMPEST and it continues to entertain today with its tight controls and fast paced action. This collection of early digital masterpieces features the groundbreaking arcade classic TEMPEST, playable in Polymega's special Quadrascan Vector Display mode, as well as its impressive port TEMPEST 2000 for the 64-bit Atari Jaguar, a new system now playable for the first time on Polymega.

Volume 12 also features a curated selection of other notable Atari arcade titles including Major Havoc, Black Widow, and Quantum. Or, have a taste of intense run-and-gun action with Berzerk and Frenzy, each playable with full immersive arcade mode support. For the true afficionados, there's I, Robot, an arcade game from 1984 that pushed visual boundaries for its time with its innovative polygonal 3D graphics and tight gameplay which pre-dated the 32-bit era by at least a decade.

The original Atari, Inc., founded in Sunnyvale, California, in 1972 by Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney, was a pioneer in arcade games, home video game consoles, and home computers. The company's products, such as Pong and the Atari 2600, helped define the electronic entertainment industry from the 1970s to the mid-1980s.

Negotiating until close to midnight on July 1, 1984, Jack Tramiel purchased the home computing and game console divisions of Atari for $240 million in promissory notes and stocks. Warner gained a 20% stake in Tramel Technologies, which was renamed Atari Corporation. Warner retained the arcade division, continuing it under the name Atari Games, but sold it to Namco in 1985. Warner also sold the Ataritel division to Mitsubishi.
