Elite

Elite is a space trading video game, written and developed by David Braben and Ian Bell and originally published by Acornsoft for the BBC Micro and Acorn Electron computers in September 1984. Elite's open-ended game model, and revolutionary 3D graphics led to it being ported to virtually every contemporary home computer system, and earned it a place as a classic and a genre maker in gaming history. The game's title derives from one of the player's goals of raising their combat rating to the exalted heights of "Elite".

Elite was one of the first home computer games to use wire-frame 3D graphics with hidden line removal. It added graphics and twitch gameplay aspects to the genre established by the 1974 game Star Trader. Another novelty was the inclusion of The Dark Wheel, a novella by Robert Holdstock which gave players insight into the moral and legal codes to which they might aspire.

Frontier: Elite II

Frontier: Elite 2 is, of course, the sequel to Elite and it continues in much the same way. You have a ship and limited funds, and nowhere to go but out into space. Trade, fight, hunt criminals, work for the various governments, anything goes in Frontier. There are few, if any, limits on what you can do or where you can go. And Frontier's universe (with approx. 100,000,000,000 planets and moons) is so big you'll never see the end of it.

The third title in the Elite series of space strategic combat games, Frontier was notoriously marred by several bugs which spoiled an otherwise enjoyable game.

Elite: Dangerous

The next game in the Elite series - an amazing space epic with stunning visuals, incredible gameplay, breath-taking scope and award-winning sound. All content can be enjoyed in game any mode: solo, personal invite-only group or open/MMO. Carve your own path through the richest, largest gaming sandbox ever created, a 1:1 scale representation of the Milky Way galaxy, set against a backdrop of raw anarchy, galactic powerplays and political intrigue.

Elite: Dangerous - Arena

A spin off of Elite Dangerous by Frontier Developments, this is the Close Quarters Combat (CQC) arena-based PvP mode from the main game, but as an independent downloadable title.

Elite Plus

Elite Plus was upgraded to take advantage of EGA, VGA and MCGA. It was coded entirely in assembly language by Chris Sawyer, who later wrote RollerCoaster Tycoon. Elite Plus had a ninth galaxy that can only be reached by hyperspacing into Witch Space.

Imagineer Co., Ltd. was established on January 27, 1986 (registered on June 1, 1977) in Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, with the goal of developing, manufacturing and selling game software. They acquired the rights to release overseas games in Japan, such as SimCity which they published for PC. They have also worked with companies like Sanrio Co., Ltd. on games featuring popular characters such as Hello Kitty.

Imagineer developed the Super Nintendo Entertainment System version of Populous, having acquired the rights from Les Edgar. At the time, the company was working with Nintendo. Imagineer also publishes the Medabots game series.

In 2016, Imagineer fully absorbed their video game subsidiary company, Rocket Company, merging into one company.

Digital Integration Ltd. was based in Camberley, Surrey, in the United Kingdom and was founded in the 1980s. The company was best known for creating flight and racing simulations for the Amiga, Amstrad, Atari, ZX Spectrum, Commodore and PC platforms. Action Sixteen, Action Replay and Dream Factory were three of the publishing labels used by the company in the early days, especially for 16-bit releases.

In 1998 Digital Integration became a wholly owned subsidiary of Titus Games plc, the holding company for Titus Interactive, and continued to operate as usual using its own name and identity. In 2001, Digital Integration released Top Gun: Combat Zones, their first game for the GameCube and PlayStation 2 as well as Windows.

When Titus Interactive went bankrupt in 2005, it supposedly did not effect Titus' international subsidiaries which included Digital Integration. However, nothing has been heard from the company since that time and it appears to have faded into the woodwork.

By 2012, Digital Integration's IP is owned by iEntertainment Network.

It is the first model in a series of computers which were produced until Apple IIe production ceased in November 1993.
