Berzerk

Maneuver your humanoid through the electrified mazes of robot filled rooms. You many kill off the first group of robots but initial success does not mean survival...future groups begin firing at your! Added danger lurks when Evil Otto enters. He can jump the maze walls and squash you if you linger too long!

Frenzy

Frenzy followed the basic paradigm set by Berzerk: the player must navigate a maze full of hostile robots. The goal of the game is to survive as long as possible and score points by killing robots and travelling from room to room. The game has no end other than the player losing all of his or her lives.

The player has a gun with which to shoot the robots, and simple intelligence of the robots means that they can often be tricked into shooting one another. If the player lingers too long in a room, a bouncing smiley face (known as "Evil Otto") appears, and relentlessly chases the player. Evil Otto will destroy any robots in his way, and can move through walls.

Berzerk: Recharged

Blast your way through an endless maze inhabited by deadly robots and their invulnerable, menacing master Evil Otto. Tag in a friend in local co-op to help you survive this twin-stick revival of an arcade classic.

Stern Electronics was founded by father-and-son pinball industry veterans Sam and Gary Stern in 1977 by purchasing the assets of the defunct Chicago Coin. Stern started out designing pinball tables and entered the arcade game market in 1980. The production of pinball tables was suspended in 1982 as the pinball market suffered a downturn in the early 1980s.

Stern's first arcade game was the internally developed Berzerk. Along with the Konami-developed imports Scramble and Super Cobra Stern quickly established themselves as one of the major arcade companies in the United States outside of Atari, Midway and Williams.

A combination of internal issues and the video game market crash eventually forced the closure of Stern Electronics in 1984. Gary Stern and many of the employees would help establish Data East's pinball division, which was sold to Sega and later on to Gary Stern himself, resulting in today's Stern Pinball company.
