Donkey Kong Country is a side scrolling platformer by British developers Rare in 1994. It featured revolutionary pre-rendered 3D graphics that give the game a very unique look compared to most other games on consoles at the time. The two playable characters featured in the game are the titular character, Donkey Kong and his nephew, Diddy Kong. Together the two swing, climb, jump, swim, cartwheel, ride animals, and blast out of barrels on their way to recover their stolen bannanas from the evil King K. Rool and his Kremling army. The adventure takes you through a variety of different environments and levels that continually change up gameplay. Donkey Kong Country also provides plenty of opportunities for exploration with almost every level having a multitude of collectible, shortcuts, and hidden bonus areas.

Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back es el segundo juego de la serie Crash Bandicoot y la secuela del juego original. La mecánica del juego es muy similar a la del original, ya que los jugadores deben abrirse paso por un entorno cerrado mientras rompen cajas que contienen bonificaciones. El objetivo del juego es reunir 25 cristales para el archienemigo de Crash, el Doctor Neo Cortex. Los cristales están repartidos por 25 niveles diferentes a los que se accede a través de las salas de teletransporte, que son las zonas centrales del juego. Para superar un nivel, hay que recoger su cristal y llegar al final del recorrido, lo que devuelve a Crash a la sala de teletransporte.

Tomb Raider es un juego de acción en 3D desarrollado por Core Design y publicado por Eidos Interactive. El juego narra las aventuras de Lara Croft, una arqueóloga británica en busca de tesoros antiguos.

El objetivo de Tomb Raider es guiar a Lara a través de una serie de tumbas y otros lugares en busca de tesoros y artefactos. Por el camino, debe acabar con animales peligrosos y otras criaturas, mientras recoge objetos y resuelve acertijos para conseguir el premio final, que suele ser un artefacto poderoso.

El juego fue aclamado por la crítica y tuvo una gran influencia, dando lugar a varias secuelas y a una franquicia de productos relacionados.

Crash Bandicoot

Crash Bandicoot es la primera entrega de la serie Crash Bandicoot, que consolidó la reputación de Naughty Dog en la industria de los videojuegos. La historia narra la creación del protagonista, Crash, un bandicoot que ha sido mejorado genéticamente por el científico loco Doctor Neo Cortex. El objetivo de Crash Bandicoot es recorrer varios niveles de forma consecutiva para avanzar en el juego. El juego se desarrolla en tercera persona, con la cámara siguiendo a Crash, aunque algunos niveles presentan perspectivas de desplazamiento hacia delante y lateral. Crash puede derrotar a los enemigos saltando sobre ellos o usando un ataque giratorio que los lanza por los aires.

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee

Oddworld: Abe&#x27;s Oddysee es el primer juego ambientado en el universo ficticio de Oddworld. Se trata de un juego de plataformas con elementos de resolución de puzles, centrado en la representación de un personaje débil y sin grandes poderes en un mundo sombrío y hostil, que tiene que confiar en su astucia para burlar a los enemigos y superar los peligros. El juego cuenta con fondos gráficos prerenderizados y utiliza secuencias animadas generadas por ordenador de estilo similar para hacer avanzar la historia entre los niveles.

El protagonista, Abe, está casi completamente indefenso: no puede usar armas y, por lo general, sus brutales enemigos lo matan al instante si se enfrenta a ellos directamente. Por esta razón, la mayor parte del juego consiste en explorar con cuidado, moverse con precisión, escabullirse y burlar a los enemigos por diversos medios: lanzar piedras para confundirlos, atraerlos a trampas, etc. Abe puede correr, saltar, trepar, andar de puntillas, agacharse y rodar; en la mayoría de las zonas, estas acciones son esenciales para su supervivencia. En algunas fases, Abe monta un gran animal conocido como Elum.

El único poder especial de Abe es el canto, que puede usar para aturdir a ciertos enemigos durante un rato o poseerlos. Cuando Abe posee a un enemigo, adquiere sus habilidades: por ejemplo, poseer el cuerpo de un feroz Slig permite al jugador disparar su ametralladora, comunicarse con otras criaturas de su especie e incluso suicidarse, despejando el camino para Abe.

Star Fox 64

La actualización del título de 16 bits para Super NES lleva la acción de disparos en 3D sobre raíles del juego original a la Nintendo 64. Protagonizada por Fox McCloud, Peppy Hare, Falco Lombardi y Slippy Toad, esta nueva versión de 64 bits contiene más de 15 niveles, rutas fáciles, medias y difíciles, niveles de desplazamiento hacia adelante y mundos totalmente en 3D, además de un modo multijugador de tres partes con pantalla dividida para cuatro jugadores. Además de mucha acción con el Arwing, el juego introduce un nuevo tanque flotante e incluso incluye un nivel submarino. El cartucho de 8 megabytes también incluye muestras de voz de 23 personajes diferentes en lugar de los sonidos de animales del original. Star Fox 64 fue el primer juego compatible con el Rumble Pak. Se vendió un pack con el Rumble Pak y una versión independiente del juego. Lanzado en Europa con el nombre de Lylat Wars.

Grand Theft Auto es el primer juego de la serie Grand Theft Auto y un juego de mundo abierto y acción criminal publicado por Rockstar Games.

El Grand Theft Auto original se compone de una serie de niveles, cada uno ambientado en una de las tres ciudades del juego. En cada nivel, el jugador tiene que alcanzar una puntuación objetivo y dispone de cinco vidas para conseguirla.

El contador de puntos también sirve como medidor de dinero; puedes gastar ese dinero en cambios de pintura y otras cosas. Sin embargo, todo el dinero que gastes se descuenta de la puntuación, lo que hace que el objetivo se aleje un poco más.

Cuando consigas la puntuación objetivo, tendrás que conducir hasta un lugar concreto para completar el nivel, lo que te permitirá pasar al siguiente.

Tomb Raider II

Tomb Raider II es el segundo juego de la serie Tomb Raider. Se trata de un juego de acción con elementos de plataformas y resolución de acertijos, similar en concepto y jugabilidad a su predecesor. La mayor parte del juego consiste en recorrer peligrosos niveles en 3D aprovechando las habilidades atléticas de Lara y resolviendo acertijos del entorno. La secuela pone más énfasis en luchar contra enemigos, añadiendo muchos adversarios humanos a la mezcla. Entre las armas adicionales se incluyen un arpón, un lanzagranadas y un rifle M16. Las pistolas automáticas sustituyen a las magnum del primer juego.

Gran Turismo

Gran Turismo is a racing game designed by Kazunori Yamauchi and is the first entry in the critically acclaimed simulator racing series bearing the same name. After five years of development time, it was well-received publicly and critically, shipping a total of 10.85 million copies worldwide as of March 2013, making it the best-selling PlayStation game. The game uses two different modes: Arcade Mode and Gran Turismo Mode. In the arcade mode, the player can freely choose the courses and vehicles they wish to use. Winning races unlocks additional cars and courses. However, Gran Turismo Mode requires the player to earn different levels of driver's licenses in order to qualify for events, and earn credits, trophies and prize cars by winning race championships. Gran Turismo features 140 cars and 11 race tracks (as well as their reversed versions).

MediEvil

MediEvil is an action-adventure game developed by SCE Cambridge Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. Originally released in 1998 for the PlayStation, the game follows Sir Daniel Fortesque, a skeletal knight accidentally resurrected to battle the sorcerer Zarok and save the kingdom of Gallowmere.

The game takes place across a variety of levels, many of which require certain objectives to be performed to progress. Sir Daniel Fortesque can use a variety of weapons, consisting of close range weapons such as swords and clubs to long range weapons such as crossbows. Many of these weapons can be charged for a powerful attack and some weapons, such as the club, can be used to access areas that are otherwise inaccessible. When not possessing any items, Dan is able to rip his own arm off and use it for both melee and ranged attacks. Dan can equip a shield alongside weapons to defend against attacks; though they can only take several hits of damage before breaking. Throughout the game, Dan can visit gargoyle heads of two varieties; green ones offer Dan information while blue ones allow Dan to buy services or ammunition by using the treasures he finds.

Dan's health is determined by a single health bar, which reduces when Dan is hit. It will deplete completely if Dan drowns or falls from a great height. If Dan completely runs out of health, the game will end. Dan can extend his maximum health by collecting Life Bottles, which will automatically refill his health bar if it drops to zero. Also hidden throughout the game are Life Vials and Life Fountains that can replenish Dan's health and fill up any empty Life Bottles Dan has. In each level, there is a hidden Chalice of Souls, which can be collected if the player fills it with enough souls from defeated enemies (some Chalices are awarded via other means). If the player clears a level with a Chalice in hand, Dan is warped to the Hall of Heroes, where he can speak to a legendary hero who will give him rewards, such as weapons. If the player finishes the game with all the Chalices, the game's true ending is revealed.

Soul Edge

Soul Edge is a 3D arcade fighting game and the first in the Soul series, it is one of the first 3D fighting game in history that place a particular emphasis on the story of the fighters. Each character have their own weapon, allowing for a wide range of play styles. The slower, longer ranged characters try to deliver their heavy blows from a distance whereas the quicker, faster characters try to get in as close as possible and deliver quick-hitting attacks.

The game tells the story of Kurt Hectic, a janitor who reluctantly must attempt to save Earth from an alien invasion of gigantic strip mining city-size vehicles named "Minecrawlers". These Minecrawlers are not only removing all of earth's natural resources, but are also crushing any people and cities that get in their way. Aided by his boss, the (possibly) insane inventor/scientist Dr. Fluke Hawkins, and a genetically engineered robotic two-legged/four-armed dog named Bones (although he prefers Max), Kurt must infiltrate each Minecrawler, and fight his way to the pilot, whom he must then kill before returning to Hawkins' in-orbit space station, the Jim Dandy.

Diddy Kong Racing

Diddy Kong Racing is set on Timber's Island and revolves around Diddy Kong and his friends' attempt to defeat the intergalactic antagonist, a wizarding pig named Wizpig, through winning a series of races. The player can take control of any of the featured characters throughout the game. Diddy Kong Racing features five worlds with four racetracks each, and the ability to drive a car, hovercraft, or pilot an aeroplane.

Mortal Kombat 3

Mortal Kombat 3 brings new elements to the 2D fighting series: multi-level playfields, "Dial-A-Combo" attacks, a "Run" button to speed up the battles, and "Vs." codes, which unlock new powers and abilities once both players enter a code sequence in pre-match-up screens. Also included are more stage fatalities and finishing moves as each warrior attempts to go one-on-one with the Centaurian enforcer Motaro, and Shao Kahn himself.

Twisted Metal 2

Twisted Metal 2 is a vehicular combat game released in 1996 for the PlayStation and PC. Players choose from a roster of armed vehicles to battle in destructive arenas across global locations. Each character has a unique backstory and special weapon. The gameplay emphasizes fast-paced action and environmental hazards. It is the second installment in the Twisted Metal series and is built on the formula of its predecessor with expanded content, such as vehicle-common advanced moves. These moves allow players to press button combinations in order to perform special rechargeable maneuvers such as cloak, shield, and a napalm blast.

Twisted Metal

Twisted Metal consists of a series of arena-based battles against an increasing number of opponents in increasingly large arenas. These battles culminate in a face-off with the winner of the previous year's competition, Darkside, who drives a large armored car which fires multiple missiles at once.

Players can choose one of 12 different vehicles with which to enter combat. Each vehicle has a distinct driver and special move. The controls consist of accelerator, brake, "tight turn" (essentially a handbrake) and turbo on the face buttons, with main weapons and machine gun selection and control on the shoulder buttons.

Arenas are populated with weapon pickups to re-supply missile stocks, repair stations for repairing damage to your car, pedestrians, and course stewards armed with either machine guns or missile launchers.

Fighting Force

Fighting Force players control one of four characters. They move through urban and science fiction environments, battling waves of oncoming enemies with weapons ranging from fists and bottles to knives, chairs and guns. The player can make some choices as to which territory to travel through.

The four characters have various reasons for taking on Dr. Zeng, a criminal mastermind with an army at his command. The action starts with a police cordon around Zeng's office skyscraper, moving to such locales as a shopping mall, subway and Coast Guard base before finally ending at the top of Zeng's island headquarters.

Time Crisis

Time Crisis is a light gun shooter arcade game released by Namco in December 1995. It was later ported for the PlayStation in 1997, bundled with the Guncon light gun controller.

Time Crisis is a three-dimensional first person rail shooter similar to Virtua Cop and The House of the Dead installments, in which the player holds a light gun and goes through the motions of firing at on-screen enemies. Time Crisis is best known for its cover system, in which players can duck behind cover to avoid enemy fire and reload his weapon. There are three stages, each consisting of three areas and a boss battle. Unique features are described here in:

A foot pedal which performs multiple functions: when the pedal is released, the player takes cover to conserve hit points while reloading the gun. While the pedal is released, the player cannot attack. In console conversions, a button command replicates the foot pedal's functions. The player loses a life if he/she is hit by a direct bullet or obstacle whilst not taking cover, with the game ending if he/she loses all lives.
A light gun (introduced in Point Blank) which utilized a special memory chip to synchronize areas of the screen's image as the player rotates the gun around. The light gun also features a blowback function which simulates real-life gun recoil.
A countdown timer, recharged by clearing an area of enemies. As running down the clock causes an instant game over, the player must take risks, shooting enemies rapidly and hiding only when necessary. A time extension is rewarded when an area is passed and there are also time bonuses awarded for shooting certain enemies quickly.
The PlayStation port features an exclusive side-story mode, in which the player's performance, such as how quickly he can clear an area, affects the path he takes through the game, resulting in multiple possibilities.

The King of Fighters '95 is a 1995 fighting game produced by SNK for the Neo Geo arcade and home console. It is the sequel to The King of Fighters '94 and the second game in The King of Fighters series. It is also the first game in the series to be ported to other home consoles besides the Neo Geo AES and Neo-Geo CD, with versions released for the PlayStation, Sega Saturn and Game Boy. It was also rereleased in The King of Fighters Collection: The Orochi Saga in 2008 for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable and Wii.

The King of Fighters '95 introduces Kyo Kusanagi's rival Iori Yagami, and firmly places Kyo as the main character for the rest of the series. The gameplay of The King of Fighters '95 is essentially unchanged from the previous title, though it does introduce the "team edit" concept which would remain as a standard feature of the series. Using the "team edit" feature, it is possible to create a totally customized team using any of the available fighters, or use one of the default teams if you wish.
