Yume Nikki es un juego gratuito de 32 bits creado por Kikiyama, un diseñador de juegos independiente japonés. El juego se desarrolló con RPG Maker 2003 y se considera una de las aplicaciones más originales de este programa, además de ser el inicio de un posible nuevo género de juegos. &quot;Yume Nikki&quot; significa &quot;Diario de sueños&quot; en japonés, y el juego sigue a una joven llamada Madotsuki mientras sueña. El objetivo es encontrar y adquirir los 24 &quot;Efectos&quot;. El juego carece de argumento y prácticamente todo se basa en la interpretación del jugador.

Yume 2kki

Yume 2kki es la secuela creada por fans del popular juego de rol Yume Nikki. En este juego, controlas a una joven llamada Urotsuki y exploras tus sueños, al igual que en Yume Nikki. El objetivo es recolectar los efectos dispersos por los mundos oníricos, como en su predecesor. Sin embargo, Yume 2kki es mucho más extenso que su precuela y sigue creciendo, ya que actualmente se encuentra en desarrollo (aunque es completamente funcional).

.Flow

.Flow is one of the most well-known fangames of the original Yume Nikki, made by lol. It's one of the darker spin-offs infamous for its eerie atmosphere and copious amounts of body horror and hospital imagery, centering around a girl named Sabitsuki (さびつき) as she enters her PC dreamworld to explore her mind and collect effects.
.Flow is one of the more traditional fangames that stays true to the gameplay elements of the original. Effects are collected in a gloomy, sublime dreamscape and the user is left to interpret the events and lack of explicit storyline. The only differences that seem to set this game apart from Yume Nikki is the more concrete subject matter (the deeper aspects of the landscape seem to have a more pristine resemblance to human body parts, where as Nikki's environment requires more interpretive thinking to analyze) and the inclusion of three endings instead of one.

The main plot of the game is similar to the original Yume Nikki's, in that it's a sandbox game with very few exploration restrictions. You must collect the twenty-five effects to unlock two of the three endings and three boxes to achieve the third.

Players must piece together the fragments of the past and present, following the voice of the 'Doctor' as he guides them deeper into John’s mind.
Players will experience the key moments of John's life that have defined and shaped him - they will be tasked with discovering the truth, shattering the lies and, ultimately, finding out what happened to him... and to remember her name.
