Sabre Wulf

The portable resurrection of a classic Spectrum series.

The game is separated into two modes of play: the 3D exploration mode and the 2D platforming sections. The 3D exploration mode is how Sabreman gets around the eight different themed worlds of Sabre Wulf. While there are no enemies in this mode, there are plenty of people to talk to, who might help you in your quest. Also strewn about are more than fifty 2D platforming levels, which you can access through the wulf's head tunnels.

Knight Lore

Although the third game in the Sabreman series, it was the first completed and withheld due to fears that sales of Sabre Wulf would be affected.

The player, as Sabreman, has forty days to collect objects throughout a castle and brew a cure to his werewolf curse. He turns into a werewolf at night, as indicated by an onscreen timer, and returns to human form during the day. Each room is depicted in monochrome on its own screen and consists of blocks to climb and obstacles to avoid while the player solves puzzles and retrieves items for the cure.

Underwurlde

Underwurlde is the second in the Sabreman series, following on from his adventures in Sabre Wulf. The format of the game is a 2D side view flip-screen platform game. The aim is to escape from the Underwurlde via one of the three exits, to go to either Knight Lore, Pentagram or Mire Mare. It was later included in Rare's 2015 Xbox One retrospective compilation,

Sabreman must search out the lost sections of the Wulf amulet in this colourful flick screen maze game whilst fighting off the many beasts, and the Wulf itself, that inhabit the jungle before making his final escape.

Pentagram

Following the events of Knight Lore, where Sabreman got himself rid of the curse of the werewulf, he has been tasked to find the ancient magic Pentagram in the forest. Using his magic wand, Sabreman must find the four parts of the Pentagram and use the water from magic wells to restore them. Once this is done five magic runes must be discovered and placed on the Pentagram to make it his.

Pentagram is the final Sabreman Filmation title by Ultimate Play the Game, the gameplay and the isometric graphics are very similar to Knight Lore and Alien 8, with the addition that Sabreman can hurl magical projectiles at the denizens of the forest. The player must solve environmental puzzles to proceed and uncover objectives.

Sabreman Stampede

Sabreman Stampede is the second stage of development of Donkey Kong Racing. The game evolved from being a Donkey Kong game to being part of the Sabreman series by Rare, due to the company being bought by Microsoft. The game was being developed to be released for the XBOX 360, but ended up being cancelled.

Ultimate Play The Game (often shortened to Ultimate) was a video game developer in the 1980s. 
Ultimate released a series of successful games for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, BBC Micro, MSX and Commodore 64 computers from 1983 until its closure in 1988. Ultimate are perhaps best remembered for the big-selling titles Jetpac and Sabre Wulf, each of which sold over 300,000 copies in 1983 and 1984 respectively, and their groundbreaking series of isometric arcade adventures utilising a technique termed Filmation. Knight Lore, the first of the Filmation games, has been retrospectively described in the press as "seminal ... revolutionary".

By the time of the label's last use in 1988 on a retrospective compilation, Ultimate had evolved into Rare, and moved on to developing titles for Nintendo consoles. Rare was purchased by Microsoft in 2002 for US$377 million, a record price for a video game developer, and now develops exclusively for Microsoft's Xbox One console. In 2006, Rare revived the "Ultimate Play The Game" name for an Xbox Live Arcade remake of Jetpac named Jetpac Refuelled.
