Chessmaster 5000

Chessmaster 5000, released as the 10th Anniversary edition, introduced a new 32-bit engine, a Windows 95 interface with pop-up menus and long file name support, and a database of over 27,000 games. It features more than ten new 2D and 3D chess sets, over 20 tutorial courses by Eric Schiller, 60+ opening books, 30 new computer personalities, and advanced time controls such as Fischer and hourglass modes. Enhancements include a Coach window, improved annotations with statistics, figurine notation support, and a glossary of over 1,600 terms. Players can compete against the AI, locally, or via remote play.

The Chessmaster

The Chessmaster is a game where the player has the chance to play against the CPU controlled Chessmaster at a standard game of chess.

To play the game the player must pick up the chess pieces with there hand cursor and place it in the desired location, within the rules a standard chess game. There are 16 different difficulty levels that includes 2 beginner levels, 13 standard levels (ranging from an average of 5 seconds to 4.5 minutes per shot depending on level), and a infinite level that will keep thinking of a shot until a perfect shot can be made or it is forced to move. There is also a teaching mode that shows the player all the possible moves with the selected piece. Two players can play each other with two controllers and there is also an option of letting the Chessmaster play itself.

The Chessmaster 2000 is the most powerful computer chess program in the world today and the friendliest!

The Chessmaster 3000

Chessmaster 3000 provides a strong chess opponent with 168 openings and different types of playfields (2D, 3D, and War Room). The game can suggest moves and determine the player's rating. It also contains 151 replications of classic real-world matches, and a Mentor feature which can act as a personal chess tutor through a variety of practical techniques.

Dro Soft was a Spanish software distributor during the second half of the 1980s and the first half of the 1990s. 
 
It started in 1984 from the record label Discos Radioactive Organizados (DRO), linked to the musical group Aviador Dro. Apart from distributing imported software, Dro Soft also distributed to small Spanish companies (Magic Hand, Josko Soft, Silicon Games, Techno Arts, Xortrapa Soft, Gamart, Animagic, Juliet Software, New Frontier) and developed its own production, including arcade titles (El Cid, 1987, or Explorer XXXI, 1988) or licensed games (the ZX Spectrum version of Budokan: The Martial Spirit, 1991). 
 
In 1994 it was acquired by Electronic Arts for the creation of its delegation in Spain.

The Software Toolworks, Inc. (often shortened to just Toolworks) was an American software and video game developer, originally founded in 1980 by Walt Bilofsky. He originally operated the company inside a garage at Sherman Oaks, California, but the company would later move to a proper office in 1983, later moving to Chatsworth and then Novato. Initially developing software for the Heathkit H89 microcomputer, they later expanded to games and other titles, including Mario is Missing, Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing, and The Chessmaster.

In 1990, wanting to expand into console games, the company acquired Mindscape to utilize its publishing license with Nintendo. In 1994, Toolworks was acquired by Pearson, and was subsequently renamed to Mindscape.
