Tempest 2000

Tempest 2000 is a tube shooter video game. Taking control of the claw-shaped Blaster spacecraft from the original game, the player has to survive and travel across multiple levels until the end in an intergalactic war, battling against a variety of enemies that appear on the playfield.

From the acclaimed designer of Tempest 2000 comes the system-shocking shooter TxK. The game draws on the spirit of the classic T2K, extending and enhancing it using the fantastic graphical power of the PS Vita system. TxK brings players new terrains, new bonus rounds, new enemies and weapons, all blazing on your screen with color and light in a graphics display designed to fit the sensory-overload gameplay, and backed by original music by an array of musicians.

Tempest

Tempest is a 1981 arcade game by Atari Inc., designed and programmed by Dave Theurer. It takes place on a three-dimensional surface, sometimes wrapped into a tube, which is viewed from one end and is divided into a dozen or more segments or lanes. The player controls a claw-shaped spaceship (named Blaster) that crawls along the near edge of the playfield, moving from segment to segment. Tempest was one of the first games to use Atari's Color-QuadraScan vector display technology. It was also the first game to allow the player to choose their starting level (a system Atari dubbed "SkillStep"). This feature increases the maximum starting level depending on the player's performance in the previous game, essentially allowing the player to continue.

An official port was released for the Atari ST. An official port that bears the Atari logo was released by Superior Software for the BBC Micro and Acorn Electron in 1985, and another by Electric Dreams for the ZX Spectrum and Amstrad CPC in 1987. Versions for the Atari 2600 and 5200 were in the works in Atari, Inc. during 1984, and unfinished prototypes exist for both of them.

Tempest 3000

Tempest 3000 is a remake of the Tempest arcade game and a sequel to Tempest 2000, written by Jeff Minter for Nuon. It was released on December 12, 2000. By 2003, the game had sold over 20,000 copies.

Tempest 4000

In Tempest 4000, players are once again in control of the Claw, a powerful spacecraft equipped to destroy deadly creatures and other obstructions with rapid-fire shots on vibrant geometric prisms. With three game modes to choose from and 100 levels to conquer, players must eliminate all enemies as quickly as possible to survive and achieve that coveted spot at the top of the leaderboards.

Tempest X3

In Tempest X3 you control a claw that perches and crawls around the outer edge of a series of geometrically shaped, tube-like constructs, shooting down or out into the nebulous void of outer space. From the core of this void, fuseballs, rockets, pulsars, tankers and other hazardous aliens and alien artifacts move toward your ship. Once you clear a screen, you fly into the void and onto the next level. Watch out for spikes as you advance.

This update to Atari's Tempest offers players an emulated version of the original arcade graphics, as well as "Evolved" graphics with particle effects, lighting, and shading. Both games feature a classic mode, and a speed-increased "Throttle Monkey" mode.

Players must guide their horseshoe-shaped craft around the edges of 3-D geometric shapes. Enemies at the far end of the playing field move toward the player, and must be shot before they reach the edge. Players can also deploy their "Super-Zapper" once per level to clear the screen of enemies. Each level is a different shape, and progressive levels add new enemy types and more of them, requiring ever-faster reflexes.

The game only offers online play, but two players can control two separate craft and play cooperatively. Players try for their highest score, which is then uploaded and tracked on the game's online leaderboards.
