OutRun

OutRun is a racing game originating in the arcades. The player can race across varied terrain in a readily available Ferrari, complete with a female passenger, over a series of short tracks.

Gameplay is viewed form just above and behind the car. The roads are full of sharp bends and hazards, contact with which can cause the car to roll and lose the player's time. On each section of track there is a fork in the road, allowing the player to choose which direction he or she wishes to go in. The player has to to complete five track sections in total, out of the fifteen in the game.

OutRun 2

OutRun 2, usually stylized as OutRun2, is a 2003 racing game released by Sega for the arcades. Although this is the first "official" sequel to Out Run, it is the fourth title in the OutRun series.

Turbo OutRun

The sequel to OutRun features similar basic gameplay to the original, with the action viewed from behind the car, and the challenge being to complete each stage within the time limit. Contact can cause the car to spin, slow down or even flip; in each case you will lose time.

There are 16 stages set across the US, gradually moving from east to west, all depicted differently visually. After every 4 levels, you go into a shop screen, with a choice of upgrades. As the title implies, you now have a turbo booster installed, which speeds up the car, although over-use can cause the engine to overheat, and it is not recharged until each shop section. You have 5 continues, and failure to complete the course within the time limit costs you one.

OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast

OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast features 15 unique cars, the most ever seen in any OutRun game. In addition to the ten cars from OutRun 2 SP, new models include the 550 Barchetta, F355 Spider, Superamerica, 328 GTS, and the Ferrari F430. Some models cannot be unlocked on the PlayStation Portable or PlayStation 2 without the use of the cross-system connectivity feature inherent of the two systems.

OutRunners

Outrunners is a driving game that allows you to gon a world tour of various stages. Follow the selected drive course by choosing one out of the 8 different type cars whose characteristics such as perspectives, power, transmission, steering wheel manoeuvrability, etc. are different. Appealing to young chouples who drive in a stylish manner, players who skillfully make turns at the corners, and so on, amid the beautiful sceneries throughout the world, this game is sure to enhance the activation of the locations.

OutRun 2 SP: Special Tours

This is an upgrade version of Outrun 2 with 15 all-new courses which are predominantly based around a New World theme. In Outrun 2 - Special Tours Sega adds a number of new features that will challenge and entertain players of all skill levels including:
-15 new exhilarating courses for a total of 30! The new courses are based on highways and byways of the US. You'll recognize skylines and vistas of major cities and highways from across the country!

-2 new Ferrari's - The 512BB and 250GTO. This gives players a choice of 10 of the world's greatest sports cars to race with!

-Players of any skill level will feel the thrill of competing like never before thanks to Sega's Re-tuned Artifical Intelligence. The enhanced AI will help novice drivers stay in the race until the very end resulting in increased enjoyment for all!

-New Background Music. 7 tunes from the original OutRun and Turbo OutRun have been added that'll bring back fond memories.

Sega AM Research & Development No. 2, previously known as SEGA-AM2 Co., Ltd., is a video game development team within the Japanese multinational video game developer Sega. Yu Suzuki, who had previously developed arcade games for Sega including Hang-On and Out Run, was the first manager of the department.

AM2's first game produced was 1992's Virtua Racing, followed by the highly popular Virtua Fighter and Daytona USA. Through the remainder of the 1990s, they developed more arcade titles and focused on fighting and racing games. AM2 was placed under the management of CSK Research Institute in 2000, and a year later became SEGA-AM2 Co., Ltd. Their development of Shenmue was over budget and cost millions of dollars, and despite positive reviews and good sales was unable to become profitable.

Suzuki was promoted and left AM2 in 2003; Hiroshi Kataoka became the head of AM2. A year later Sega was acquired by Sammy Corporation and AM2 was merged back into Sega. Since, the team has continued work on arcade games such as Border Break and the Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA series, as well as smartphone games in Japan. Several games produced by Sega AM2 have influenced and innovated the video game industry from a technical and developmental perspective.
