NBA ShootOut was released in 1996 and was Sony's first basketball game on their 32-bit PlayStation. It featured a season mode, motion captured player animations and up to 8 player support.

NBA ShootOut 2001

NBA SHOOTOUT 2001 offers all the standard features you expect from a quality basketball title: Exhibition games, Season mode with in-depth stat tracking, and Playoff mode. You can also choose the style you want to play, either Simulation or Arcade mode. The Season mode gives you the chance to strut your stuff on the court, as awards for MVP, Rookie of the Year, scoring champion, rebounding champion, and Defensive Player of the Year are up for grabs. You'll also have a selection of over 400 plays to choose from, which include team-specific plays that fit a team's playing style. So the Lakers will have a lot of entry passes to the post to utilize Shaq, while the 76ers will feature plenty of isolation plays so Iverson can do what he does best.. You can also take on a friend in the Versus mode and see who is the best hoops maven.

NBA ShootOut 2002

If you love basketball (and you know you do), get ready for best thing since sliced bread. NBA SHOOTOUT 2002 takes the popular SHOOTOUT franchise to new heights, featuring the most realistic-looking action to date. The player models are created from a combination of photographs, motion-capture animation, and texture mapping which means the superstars and benchwarmers alike will appear just as they do in real-life. An updated game engine gives the play the feel of the NBA, and all of the new rules changes are in effect, too. The courts look like their real-life counterparts, with updates included for new floors like Seattle's. You choose your team, execute any desired trades, set your starting lineup, and pick through the playbook to create the most dominant squad in the league. High-flying dunks, touch shooting, and a sophisticated foul system make the NBA SHOOTOUT 2002 even more incredible than the beloved series installments that paved the way.

NBA ShootOut 2003

NBA ShootOut (Total NBA in the United Kingdom) is a series of basketball video games based on the NBA and released for the PlayStation and PlayStation 2. The first two entries were released in 1996 and 1997. Later entries were developed by 989 Sports, including NBA ShootOut 2000, the only game in the series to be released for Microsoft Windows.

In the games, players can choose an existing NBA franchise and play exhibition or regular season games, as well as create their own players to include in regular season team rosters. Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal were not represented in the game. In early 2000s versions, Michael Jordan is included as a member of the Washington Wizards. Earlier versions of the game made it extremely difficult for players to slam dunk, a problem that was rectified in later games.

NBA Live 2003

The 2003 version of the NBA simulator has improved graphics in relation to the previous installments and features like detailed faces and a player design engine. It also has rosters in accordance to the 2002-2003 Season.

The game features more than 30 new rebound animations worked out by motion capture sessions, different passing styles and blocks and a frame rate of 60 frames per second.

As usual, a complete fantasy draft is included and multiplayer support is present.

NBA Live 96

As with all games in the NBA Live series you can draft, trade and edit players. Play a full season, exhibition or just the playoffs. 96 includes 29 teams including the expansion Toronto and Vancouver teams.

NBA Live 99

NBA Live 99 is EA Sports' NBA release for the 1998–99 NBA season. Some of the major additions in Live 99 include Practice Mode and multi-season play featuring player development between seasons. Although it did not feature free agency or generated rookies, it would turn out to be the forerunner to Franchise Mode. Live 99 shipped with 1997-98 season rosters due to the NBA lockout of 1998–99 putting a hold on player movements and rookie signings during the summer of 1998.

Kobe Bryant in NBA Courtside

Kobe Bryant in NBA Courtside is a basketball simulation game for the Nintendo 64. It was released in 1998 and received a Player's Choice designation after selling one-million copies. Kobe Bryant was in his second NBA season at the time of the game's release and was the youngest player to have a game to his namesake.
Kobe Bryant in NBA Courtside features 5-on-5 game play. The game also features 1997-1998 rosters (except for Michael Jordan, who was not in the players' association and is renamed "Roster Player #98"). There are three game options: Exhibition, Season, and Playoffs. The game allows you to either simulate Season games or play them to lead into the playoffs, and win the NBA Finals.

NBA Courtside 2 Featuring Kobe Bryant

NBA Courtside 2 Featuring Kobe Bryant is the sequel to Kobe Bryant in NBA Courtside and features NBA star Kobe Bryant on its cover. Bryant also performed the motion capture for the game. The ability to play multiple seasons has been added. New features include the ability to play a three-point contest and additional options for creating a player from scratch. The game features improved artificial intelligence helps to improve the realism of the gameplay. New dunk styles are possible to implement and enhanced motion capturing allows the no-look pass to be used during gameplay. There are more than 300 players and games can either be a realistic simulation of actual NBA action or a full-blown arcade experience. Plays such as the isolation play, the post up, and the triangle offense can be called.

NBA Hangtime

Hangtime was the third basketball game by the original development team behind the NBA Jam series. The title was changed due to the NBA Jam name being acquired by Acclaim Entertainment, the publisher of the games for the home market. Acclaim's NBA Jam Extreme was released the same year as Hangtime. Features introduced in Hangtime included character creation, alley oops and double dunks. A software update known as NBA Maximum Hangtime was released for the arcades later in the life cycle.
