Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection

The compilation features 48 Sega games (49 counting two versions of Altered Beast) which were previously released for the Mega Drive/Genesis (including most of the Sonic the Hedgehog titles released for the system), arcade and Sega Master System. It is similar to the Sega Genesis Collection released previously for the PlayStation 2 and PSP, however it contains 16 (in NTSC regions) more games (including unlockable extras).

Sega Genesis Collection

Sega Genesis Collection features over 30 titles including, Altered Beast, Sonic The Hedgehog, Shinobi III, Phantasy Star, and the original Sega Genesis version of Golden Axe. Sega Genesis Collection also features numerous unlockable items that delve into the soul of the Genesis including interviews with the original developers that created the games featured in the collection, a museum area with interesting facts about the games, a hint area to help gamers complete their favorite Sega Genesis games, and Sega arcade games from the Genesis era.

Sega Astro City Mini

The Astro City Mini is a functional miniature version of the full-sized arcade cabinet that goes by the same name, and it includes 37 playable games.

The Mini features a built-in LCD screen, but if you’re interested in the bigger picture, it also includes an HDMI-out port, a headphone jack, and two USB-A ports.

Altered Beast

Altered Beast is a 1988 beat 'em up video game developed by Team Shinobi and published by Sega for arcades. Set in Ancient Greece, the game follows a Roman centurion who is resurrected by the Olympian god Zeus to rescue his daughter Athena from Neff, the demonic ruler of the underworld. By collecting three power-ups in a level, the player character can transform into one of five mythical beasts.

In the original arcade, the end credits are interspersed with images of actors in costumes for the different characters and monsters of the game, implying the whole game was a film production.

Altered Beast is a 2005 action-adventure beat 'em up video game for the PlayStation 2. The game is a remake of the 1988 arcade game Altered Beast. While the gameplay still involves the main character transforming into different kinds of beasts like in the original, the story, characters and setting are completely different, along with notable gameplay additions.

Zeus has called upon you! Only a brave and fearless warrior can save his beloved daughter, Athena, from the cunning clutches of Nelf, evil Lord of the Underworld. Risen from the grave, you are presented with supernatural powers beyond this world. Collect the mystical spirit balls and transform into an awesome array of creatures - as Strongman, punch and kick harder than ever before, as WereWolf and WereTiger, rip the flesh of the demons of hell, and as Bear, knock out your enemies with one bad breath! You hear the distant cries of the beautiful Athena and as the terrors of the Underworld tighten their grasp, the beast within you rises to face the final battle!

This game was released only for the japanese NEC PC Engine.

Altered Beast: Guardian of the Realms

Zeus, creator and ruler of the Guardians of the Gates, raises you from your grave! You must go fourth and defeat a new, unknown evil that has destroyed the Guardians and ravaged the universe. To do so, you must collect the keys and Essence of each land, transforming you into beasts with unnatural powers and special abilities. Conquer this evil and you will become the sole Guardian, the protector of the universe.

3D Altered Beast

Rise from your grave!
Summoned from the dead by Zeus, shape shift into various beasts and fight off hordes of demons to rescue the captured Athena from the clutches of Neff.

Transform into a variety of beasts and fight off throngs of demons sent forth by the evil Neff. The mighty shape-shifting god will challenge you in various, hideous forms in each level, but you are armed to the teeth with transformative tricks of your own!

In addition to its all-new 3D presentation, 3D Altered Beast also supports local multiplayer, and a Random Transformation Mode.

The LCD version of Altered Beast is a watered-down version of the arcade game Altered Beast created by Tiger Electronics.

The Sega Genesis/Mega Drive has different enemy layouts and input mechanics from the original arcade version.

The studio's roots stretch back to 1987 and studio was responsible for arcade classics as Altered Beast, Golden Axe, Alien Storm, and Shinobi.

It was formally established as the Sega AM1 R&D Division in 1990, headed by Rikiya Nakagawa.

Team Shinobi

Sega Enterprises, Ltd. was the company that resulted from the merger of Nihon Goraku Bussan and Rosen Enterprises. This company was acquired by Gulf+Western in 1969, put under the control of Sega Enterprises, Inc. in 1974, and then sold to CSK in 1984. It also acquired Esco Boueki. While owned by CSK, Sega Enterprises established an American subsidiary still in operation. Sega Enterprises would change its name to Sega Corporation on November 1, 2000.

Sega Enterprises, Ltd.

Sega Corporation was the legal successor to Sega Enterprises which came into being on 1st November, 2000. It was then when the company established the system of having ten different subsidiaries each with their own brand. These were WOW Entertainment, Sega AM2, Hitmaker, Amusement Vision, Sega Rosso, Smilebit, Overworks, Sonic Team, United Game Artists and Wave Master. Sega Corporation then took care of production and marketing work. This structure was disbanded in July of 2004.

In the 1st of April 2015, it was split into Sega Games and Sega Interactive.
